INC was established in 2010 with support from the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong and The Chinese Univeristy of Hong Kong as an Area of Excellence. It is the largest engineering research project ever funded in Hong Kong. The mission of INC is to make Hong Kong a major long-term contributor in Network Coding, a major research field co-founded by this team. Specific deliverables include:

To build in Hong Kong a world-leading network coding centre by maintaining a world-class research team with comprehensive expertise covering all areas of Network Coding

To train PhDs and postdoctoral researchers at a quality level employable by top universities around the world
